Lindsay Lohan was born July 2, 1986
(Year of the Tiger), in New York City to Michael and Dina
Lohan. She was modeling and acting at the age of 3, starting with
commercials for Jell-O, Wendy's and Pizza Hut. She advanced to soaps to
play in Another World, and was already experienced when she had her
cinematic debut in "The Parent Trap," a 1998 remake of Disney's teen
comedy, the original starring Hayley Mills, in a double role as twins
Hallie and Annie.
Two years later, Lindsay starred in a Disney TV film before appearing in
Bette Midler's unsuccessful sitcom, Bette. This was followed by the more
successful Disney remake of "Freaky Friday" in 2003. The next year,
Lindsay starred in a more major effort, "Confessions of a Teenage Drama
Queen." The film was a dud, but Lindsay tried again in the teen fare,
"Mean Girls," which soon proved to be a commercial and popular success thanks
to Lindsay and popular mean-girl, Rachel McAdams.
Her acting career has been enhanced with music, starting in 2002 with an
album deal with Estefan Enterprises. In 2004, Lindsay won the MTV Movie
Award for the Best Breakthrough Female, and later she received a Saturn
award nomination and a Young Artist award nomination. She has released a
music video for her single "Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter to Father)
which introduced us to the acting abilities of her sister, Ali, and was a
dramatization of her family's suffering at the hands of her father.
Star land photographers enjoy following the controversial Lindsay Lohan.
Nipple exposures, whether accidental or by design, are not true career
enhancers, so it remains to be seen if she can emerge from the teen
cocoon into the serious adult world, or if she just declines into
another teenage partying has-been. She has enough of an admiring teen
male audience seeking a gallery of Lindsay Lohan to keep attention on
her until the proper cinematic vehicle arrives. But her future is up to
the essential Lindsay Lohan. Topless rumors and photoplays that produce
just another set of Lindsay Lohan pictures may not provide the fare that
keep her fan numbers afloat.
